Meet Rimetea – a hidden gem in the heart of Transylvania

Meet Rimetea – a hidden gem in the heart of Transylvania

What’s the best thing to do on a rainy Sunday if you live in the heart of Transylvania and want to grasp a breath of fresh air? We don’t know about you, but we hopped in our friends´ old Peugeout 105 and headed from Cluj-Napoca to Rimetea – a gem hidden in between rocky and hilly landscapes. Continue reading

Exploring Transylvania in three days

Exploring Transylvania in three days

As a local, romanticizing about your country can be tricky. I must confess I’m always biased. It’s hard to close your eyes at the unfortunate infrastructure, how great it would be to drive on the national roads without any worries, to be able to enjoy the landscapes without being alerted by the holes continuously. Dreaming of a white Christmas in Romania…

Dreaming of a white Christmas in Romania…

This is our second Noel in Portugal. Although warm weather is our favorite, we can’t deny the fact that we miss snow, snowmen, snowballs, in short, Romania’s white winterland especially during the festive season. Continue reading

Santa Nicholas came to Portugal for the first time

Santa Nicholas came to Portugal for the first time

There is this santa before Santa Claus, who goes by the name of Santa Nicholas / Moș Nicolae in Romanian. We celebrate it in Romania on 6th of December.

I’ve grown up with two santas and with the tradition of preparing and waiting for their arrivals. But who is Santa Nicholas and how is he different from Santa Claus? Continue reading

Fun and therapy in a Romanian salt mine, one of the oldest in the world

Fun and therapy in a Romanian salt mine, one of the oldest in the world

Truth being told, we rarely think about the importance of salt beyond the one we sprinkle on the food…Though last year something profoundly opened our mind and changed the way we look at salt and at the fabulous natural resources Romania has. Continue reading

Sibiu deserves its place in the top 5 most beautiful cities to visit in Romania.

Known for its German heritage, Sibiu is also named Hermannstadt and was chosen European Cultural Capital in 2007. A city in the heart of Transylvania (raise your hand if Dracula just sprung to your mind), surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, with breathtaking landscapes, amazing mountain resorts, natural richness, all of which will turn your staying in Romania into a want-to-go-back memory.  Continue reading
