A short philosophy about going at a local food market in Portugal

A short philosophy about going at a local food market in Portugal

In a cosmopolitan world, entering a local food market in Portugal, or Paris, or Vietnam, is like a breath of fresh air, the impression is like…entering a supermarket years ago? It’s where you’ll find locals in their own environment. Nothing compares to Continue reading

Mafra National Palace hosts one of the most beautiful libraries in the world

Mafra National Palace hosts one of the most beautiful libraries in the world

Not many travellers coming to Portugal know about this hidden treasure. In fact, we feel that Mafra National Palace hasn’t received its deserved spotlight.

That’s why we’re writing this, to present you one more gem to visit during your trip through Portugal, and especially if you’re staying in Lisbon and looking for a quick escape outside the city. Continue reading

A regular Saturday (turned out to be far from regular) – one day before the super blood moon eclipse – one way to explain the glow that surrounded us in the afternoon to which we surrendered like children. Or maybe, maybe it’s just the lady Autumn that settled in gracefully in one of the most beautiful spots in Alentejo, Monsaraz. Continue reading

Berlengas Islands are in Europe and you haven’t visited them yet?

Berlengas Islands are in Europe and you haven’t visited them yet?

Although summer has slowly come to an end, you should write down in your travels list one of Portugal’s wonders. By seeing the picture above, you’re probably asking: does this even exist in Europe, and it is visitable? The Berlenga Grande Island situated just 5.7 miles off the mainland, is the kind of island that you dream of finding but don’t hope it exists. However, it does exist and someone else found it before us. Continue reading

Fun and therapy in a Romanian salt mine, one of the oldest in the world

Truth being told, we rarely think about the importance of salt beyond the one we sprinkle on the food…Though last year something profoundly opened our mind and changed the way we look at salt and at the fabulous natural resources Romania has. Continue reading

Why you should go to Flowers’ Festival in Alentejo, Portugal

Why you should go to Flowers’ Festival in Alentejo, Portugal

After four years, The Flowers’ Festival also known as People’s Festival ( Festas do Povo / Festas das Flores) is back to the streets of Campo Maior in Alentejo.

Like reading a description paragraph in a book – this is how surreal this festival looks at first sight! Before arriving to the city, we would imagine no more than four-five decorated streets. Oh, the surprise we had when we entered this dreamy world! The whole municipality has its streets dressed in paper flowers, each one with a theme, be it jasmin, tulips, poppy, rose or orchid. There are people coming from all over Portugal and from the neighbouring Spain to grasp some flickering shadows and colourful lights from the suspended paper flowers. Continue reading

We packed our bags with a lot of enthusiasm and headed to the North of Portugal, more precisely, the Douro Valley and Oporto. We’ve already been several times in Oporto, but every time we go it’s like the first time. We park in another area and set about a different pathway. Continue reading
